Introducing the Canon Powershot G7X Mark III, My Camera for Capturing CRT/Monitor/Handheld Monitor Moments.

The Canon Powershot G7X Mark III has become my trusty companion when it comes to capturing the nostalgic charm of CRT screens, monitors, and handheld displays. However, I must admit that the charging process can be a bit perplexing. Unlike many cameras that allow direct charging via a USB cable, the G7X Mark III requires you to remove the battery and charge it separately with a battery charger.

At first, I attempted to charge the camera by plugging the USB cable directly into a power charger. To my surprise, no matter what I tried, the camera simply refused to charge. There was no indication of any activity—no red LED light or any signs of charging taking place.

Curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to experiment with different charging methods. I discovered a peculiar workaround involving a combination of cables. By using a USB-C to USB-C cable, along with a USB-A hub that provided two USB-A ports and an HDMI port, something magical happened. When I plugged the USB-C cable from the camera into the USB-C port on the hub, the camera sprung to life, and I observed that it was indeed charging. This unexpected solution proved to be quite convenient, especially in situations where I had forgotten to bring along the battery charger.

However, it’s important to note that while this method allows for charging, it does come with a minor limitation. When the camera is switched on, simultaneous charging is not possible. Nevertheless, this remains a simple and hassle-free option for recharging the camera when you find yourself without the dedicated battery charger.
The Canon Powershot G7X Mark III has truly become an indispensable tool for my CRT and monitor captures. Its exceptional image quality and user-friendly features make it a perfect choice for anyone venturing into the realm of retro visuals.
That’s all for now. Have a wonderful day!
